A Call To Invest In Community

Hello/Hola,

As Austin City Council continues to have budget hearings, The Universal Tech Movement (UTM) team has been on the ground at Austin City Hall, advocating for the Community Investment Budget (CIB). Created and spearheaded by the incredible team at Equity Action ATX, the CIB is a comprehensive push to invest in community care, upstream solutions, and the everyday resilience of Austin City residents.

Right now, Austin is facing a proposed $16.8 million reduction in social service contracts. We cannot let that happen. The CIB fights against these harmful cuts and instead calls for targeted investments where they matter most—including a dedicated $2 million for workforce development, as well as crucial funding for family stabilization and reentry support. These are the exact social services and pathways that UTM provides and fights for every single day.

Huge shoutout to Equity Action, for helping lead this vital charge to ensure Austin’s budget reflects equity, safety, and community wellbeing.

CALL TO ACTION: We need your voice! True change requires a community effort. Join UTM at Austin City Hall this Wednesday, August 12, to advocate for the investments in social services and workforce development that the City of Austin desperately needs and that UTM provides. Let’s make sure they hear us!
